Meet the teamGrounded in a 2000-year old Catholic intellectual tradition, the School of Theology supports the search for authenticity and for meaning that defines contemporary existence through high quality teaching and impactful research. The purpose of the School is to engage in a principled and critical exploration of the central tenets of the Catholic faith that is based in the revelation of God as love in the person and mission of Jesus. The School is committed to serving and deepening the intellectual and spiritual lives of students and staff, while simultaneously equipping them with the skills necessary to thrive according to their vocation.
If you are curious about the origin, nature and future of religion in society, theology is for you. It’s for inquisitive and enquiring minds – those eager to probe the foundations of the Christian faith, the development of its central teachings and philosophies, and its relationship with the modern world.
You will be encouraged to explore the meaning of existence and living, and uncover the meaning of “faith seeking understanding”.
Whatever your stage of life or career, we have a learning opportunity to suit. We offer short courses, certificate and bachelor opportunities, postgraduate coursework programs, professional and research degrees, international study tours, and a wide range of professional development and in-service opportunities.

Professor Robyn Horner is a teaching and research academic within the School of Theology, and a member of the Institute for Religion and Critical Inquiry (IRCI). From 2010 until 2015, she held the position of Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) of the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy.
The aim of Professor Horner’s research is to find new ways of thinking about religious phenomena within contemporary Western contexts. She investigates this area both theoretically and practically, in collaboration with researchers in Belgium on the Enhancing Catholic School Identity Project. She is currently working on a monograph on revelation, and as part of the major project Atheism and Christianity: Moving Past Polemic.
