About the clinic
The Mary Aikenhead Clinic is a teaching facility staffed by postgraduate psychology students/provisional psychologists, who provide holistic and client centred services, using a multidisciplinary approach. Staff at the clinic work closely with other health disciplines at ACU, including dieticians, exercise physiologists, social workers and allied health professionals.
Consultation with these supportive disciplines can be sought if required, to ensure our clients receive balanced and comprehensive services.
All services are overseen by registered clinical psychologists who are skilled clinicians and supervisors accredited by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and Psychology Board of Australia, as well as members of the Australian Psychological Society and College of Clinical and/or Educational and Developmental Psychologists. Psychological and counselling interventions are chosen on the basis of clinical judgement and expertise, and current research evidence to provide evidence based best practice.
We welcome people from all walks of life and of all cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds. We can assist children and parents, adolescents, adults, couples and families.

The clinic is named in honour of Mother Mary Frances Aikenhead, founder of the Catholic Religious Institute, the Religious Sisters of Charity, and of St. Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin. Her work included the establishment of schools, hospitals and orphanages for people in need, and helping disadvantaged members of the community.
