Genevieve McArthur is also a Director of Research Translation at the Dyslexia SPELD Foundation. The goal of these joint roles is to help accelerate the translation of rigorous reading and writing science into practice in Australia. She also heads a research group (the PRAX team) that is investigating the relationship between poor reading (PR) and anxiety (AX).

Professor McArthur was supervised by Dr John Hogben at the University of Western Australia for her PhD (1998). After lecturing at Curtin University, she was recruited as a postdoctoral researcher by Professor Dorothy Bishop at Oxford University (1999-2003). When she returned to Australia, she was supported by Professors Max Coltheart and Anne Castles in a series of NHMRC and ARC research fellowships and grants (2003-2013). In 2014, she became the Head of Cognitive Science at Macquarie University (2014-2019). During this time, she helped co-found the Reading Clinic with Associate Professor Saskia Kohnen and Dr. Erin Banales, and the Mobile Test Interface (MoTIf) with SciPilot. She is (very) excited to act as a direct link between ACAL, DSF and AUSPELD.
