Professional experience units require continuous full-time engagement regardless of the enrolled study mode. Students are required to complete all placements as described, either as individual days or in a sustained block.
The Professional Experience Program (PEP) Office will provide further information about the PEP prior to students commencing the program. Supervised professional experience is at the heart of all our Education courses. Where students elect to undertake a placement in a school, the Faculty will find appropriate placements to suit the needs of your course. Students who elect to undertake a placement in a community organisation are responsible for arranging their own placement, with approval from the Lecturer in Charge or Course Coordinator. Placements will usually be arranged for the scheduled placement period in the professional experience calendar, although this may not always be possible.
All students participating in the Professional Experience Program must obtain background checks as required by Federal and State/Territory laws. Please refer to the Mandatory Requirements for Professional Experience for requirements in your local State or Territory.
The Professional Experience Office will organise practicums. Students should not make contact with schools directly to organise their own practicums. Students will be placed at a school within 90 minutes' travel time from their home address, so it is important that personal details are correct in InPlace.
