About physiotherapy

Empower people with the strategies they need to move and function. As a physiotherapist, you’ll work with people who have problems with their cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal or neurological systems. By optimising movement and function, you’ll help people overcome movement disorders that were present at birth, accidental, or associated with ageing or life-changing events.

Connect with communities

Make an impact while you study. As a physiotherapy student, community engagement will be embedded within your field experience, connecting you with community partners in a range of settings, including urban, rural and remote areas. You’ll be encouraged to explore community needs, and to develop a professional practice that combines ethics, integrity and cultural sensitivity.

International opportunities

During your final year, you will have the opportunity to undertake a community engagement or clinical placement/ professional practice in a range of international destinations – such as Chile, Vanuatu, Denmark or Vietnam. These experiences provide you with an understanding of new cultures and approaches to health and health care, adding a global perspective to your degree and greatly enhancing your career prospects.

Jumpstart your career

Become employable before you graduate. Our Bachelor of Physiotherapy provides you with valuable clinical placement opportunities, supervised by a clinical facilitator. During your placement, you’ll develop and integrate knowledge, skills and professional behaviours in accordance with the requirements of the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.

Strength and honours

Have your academic excellence recognised. High-achieving Bachelor of Physiotherapy students can undertake honours in their third and fourth years – just make sure you meet the admission requirements.

"I loved the focus on clinical placements during the degree. It allowed us to take our classroom learning to real patients and make a difference while still studying. Working with stroke survivors allows me to improve people's function every day.

"I'm really passionate and proud to be able to make such a meaningful impact. I hope to be able to help people reach their goals and improve their quality of life for many years to come."
