If you stepped it up during your TAFE or vocational education and training (VET) studies, we want to reward you. VET graduates from our education partners are eligible for credit and/or guaranteed entry to our undergraduate courses. Check if you fit the bill.
Are VET pathways for me?
Keep your momentum up. Build on your VET or TAFE success to study what you love at an advanced level.
If you graduated from one of our partner institutions, you could be eligible for guaranteed entry and/or credit to a relevant undergraduate course.
Our list of partnership institutions include:
- Box Hill Institute (Victoria)
- Canberra Institute of Technology (ACT)
- TAFE NSW
- TAFE QLD
- Private RTOs
I have completed non-VET studies
If you have studied at another university, you can apply for credit transfer or recognition of prior learning (also known as advanced standing) towards a course with us.

How to apply with the VET pathway
Get your application underway using our step-by-step guide below. You can check the following:
- Confirm if your VET or TAFE institution is an education partner.
- See what courses you can apply for.
- Apply directly with us or through a relevant Tertiary Admissions Centre (TAC).
1. Check if your VET gets you into ACU
We have a number of formal partnership agreements with TAFE and VET providers to give their graduates guaranteed entry into a relevant ACU degree and/or credit for previous studies.
To see if your VET provider is one of our partners, you can search our articulation database.
Please note: You must have completed, or be about to complete your VET qualification to be eligible for applying to articulate to ACU.
What we mean by 'articulate'
In education, articulation is when one institution aligns its courses or requirements with studies completed at a different institution.
If you completed coursework at another provider and want to credit these towards a course with us, you are articulating to ACU.
2. Investigate selection ranks
If your VET provider is not formally partnered with us, you will need to apply through a TAC. As part of this application, your VET qualification will be assigned a selection rank.
This scenario also applies in one of the following cases:
- You are a Year 12 applicant with a competency-based and graded AQF certificate III.
- You have completed or are completing a competency-based and graded AQF certificate IV.
- You have an AQF diploma and sub-degree study based on level, duration and grade point average.
Please note: We currently only consider AQF certificate III studies for Year 12 applicants. This qualification can be given a selection rank separate from (but used in addition to) an ATAR or OP selection rank.
Consider additional pathways
You can boost your application's chance of success by combining your VET qualification with evidence of work experience and/or by taking our Special Tertiary Admissions Test.
For more information, visit our work experience pathways page.

To make it a simple one-step process for you, we will automatically apply any credit listed within the relevant agreement to your ACU student record.
Apply via TAC
