Dr Basarkod is an early career researcher in the fields of educational and positive psychology. Her research is impact-oriented, with the aim of doing the most amount of good with the resources available. Her research examines ethical and moral reasoning, decision making, altruism, well-being, and academic outcomes. She is interested in exploring these constructs within an educational context through meta-analyses, and building interventions to improve these outcomes for students. She is also interested in research from a global lens, by focusing on samples from countries that are underrepresented in educational research.
Dr. Basarkod completed her PhD in Psychology at IPPE in 2019. Along with her supervisors, Professor Joseph Ciarrochi and Dr. Baljinder Sahdra, she developed the Six Ways to Well-Being (6W-WeB) – a questionnaire that assesses the frequency and motivation for six behaviours that promote well-being. It was developed to enable clinicians who use behaviour-based interventions to measure their clients’ well-being in behavioural terms, rather than by measuring affective states or distress symptomology.
