The struggle within: Financial abuse and Bangladeshi migrant Muslim women in Australia
Farjana's research examines the nuances of spousal financial abuse against these women through the lens of religious, cultural, and migratory influences. It investigates how religious narratives and perceptions might contribute to family and financial abuse in migrant families and define the financial boundaries and limitations for women. Within the sociology of religion and gender, the study addresses the intersectional complexities that shape women's lived experiences, particularly those of women of colour from migrant backgrounds, with a focus on Southeast Asian Muslim women in Australia.
