Unit rationale, description and aim
The contemporary workforce requires culturally competent graduates able to apply knowledge and skills derived from learning experiences that develop a deeper knowledge of the world and a heightened awareness of different peoples and cultures.
GLST301 requires students to enhance the study undertaken in their Global Studies degree via either study at ACU’s Rome campus, or one of ACU's international partner universities. In exceptional circumstances students where students are not able to travel for a semester, a student may be allowed to undertake this unit in Australia via internationally focused coursework or as a short international travel experience (STISE) combined with internationally focused coursework.
The aim of this unit is to develop a deeper knowledge of the world inside and outside Australia and make Global Studies graduates more employable in the global marketplace.

Learning and teaching strategy and rationale
Students will study the unit at an international partner university or in an international unit approved by the National School of Arts and Humanities. Teaching and learning strategies will vary according to the country chosen and the option selected.
In exceptional circumstances, students may be allowed to undertake this experience in Australia via internationally focused coursework. These exceptions operate as per section 5.6 of the Academic Regulations.
