ShareUsing data analytics, ILSTE Researcher, Professor Michele Haynes and her team Dr Melanie Spallek and Karen Kusuma, have profiled the trajectories of academic achievement for children in Queensland schools with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Working with the Autism Hub within the Department of Education, Queensland and with research funding from education Horizons, the research findings included identifying that individualised educational adjustments are important for enabling academic success. Low personal absences and no suspensions enable successful outcomes including improved academic achievement.
