ACU lecturer rated in nation’s best lawyer awards
Immigration lawyer Kerry Murphy has won national acknowledgment for unrelentingly pursuing his great passion – promoting the human rights of refugees.
The Australian Catholic University lecturer has been selected as one of Australia’s Best Lawyers by United States peer-review company Best Lawyers.
More than 3000 lawyers from hundreds of firms nationally were nominated, with Mr Murphy included in the 12th edition of Best Lawyers in Australia for his work in human rights and immigration law.
“I am but one of many people working to promote human rights for asylum seekers, refugees and migrants in Australia and overseas,” the Thomas More Law School lecturer said.
“The area is highly politicised and that can create extra stress for all involved. I am lucky to have worked in advocating human rights for asylum seekers, refugees and migrants for many years.”
A partner with D’Ambra Murphy Lawyers in Sydney, Mr Murphy also was recognised as one of the 2020 Lawyer of the Year award recipients.
More than 470,000 evaluations contribute to the list, with only a single lawyer in each specialty and location honoured with a Lawyer of the Year award.
Best Lawyers was founded in 1981 with the purpose of highlighting the extraordinary accomplishments of those in the legal profession.
