Share"Will future generations be proud of the work that our leaders are doing today?" This is the question posed by Bishop Anba Suriel in his passionate discussion of the persecution of Christians and other religious minorities in the Middle East at 'Protecting Rights, Protecting People', a conference on religious freedom co-sponsored by the PM Glynn Institute and the Ambrose Centre for Religious Liberty. Bishop Suriel outlines the hardships that refugees suffer in the Middle East, the challenges they face in attempting to gain refugee status, and the greater role that Australia could be playing by offering aid and support to those most affected by conflict.
Bishop Anba Suriel is the Bishop of Melbourne and its Affiliated Regions of the Coptic Orthodox Church. He is also the Chancellor and Dean of St. Athanasius Coptic Orthodox Theological College in Donvale, Victoria.
