"We cannot safely assume that other people's minds work on the same principles as our own. All too often, others with whom we come in contact do not reason as we reason, or do not value the things we value, or are not interested in what interests us." - Isabel Briggs Myers
The project involves exploring how we can improve the effects of intergenerational programs on attitudes between youth and older adults through understanding the personality, motives, cultural factors, and approach to intergenerational programs. The project further aims to explore potential enterprise avenues that can be considered to help sustain this social initiative. The project will explore the foundations of the literature through a systematic review. Secondly, a survey study will be conducted to explore the relationship between personality, cultural values, motives, and intergenerational attitudes amongst youth and older adults. An interview/focus group study will then be conducted to examine the perspectives of youth and older adults partaking in intergenerational programs.
