Study in Rome

Take your studies to Rome. You'll gain valuable experience - in the classroom and beyond - that will become a part of who you are and who you want to become.

Rome away from home

Life at our Rome Campus is about so much more than study. Immerse yourself in Roman life, connect with fellow students from Australia and abroad, explore historical sites, enhance your Italian language skills, and of course, focus on your studies.

You'll also have the opportunity to go beyond the tourist trail and connect meaningfully with locals, including volunteering with homeless people and refugees through the Community of Sant'Egidio.

No matter what course you're studying with us, you'll have the opportunity to study for a couple of weeks or a whole semester in Rome.

Semester in Rome

The Rome Semester program gives undergraduate students the unique experience of studying at ACU's Rome Campus over a 15-week period, while at the same time immersing themselves in Roman life and culture.

Students study four units (40 credit points) in block mode as part of a semester-long program or choose to complete one to three units as part of an intensive study abroad experience.

Units are offered by the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy and the Faculty of Education and Arts. The program includes an intensive Italian language unit and a range of courses covering topics such as religion in ancient Rome, art and politics, Roman landscapes and more.

Current ACU students interested in learning more about the Rome programs, can visit the Study Overseas page.

The Rome accommodation is located on campus near the trendy Trastevere district, just three kilometres from Vatican City. Being centrally located will allow you to enjoy all that Rome has to offer and be within walking distance of historical sites, cafes and restaurants.

The campus is bright and modern with all the facilities you'll need for your stay. The sprawling site has a garden and shared courtyards for students to relax in and terraces that offer views over the city.

“The program exceeded my expectations and I was blown away by the experience. It was amazing to do a few hours of study in the morning and then leave class to go and explore Rome for the remainder of the day. Night-life in the local area is also great with plenty of bars to choose from and a large student population, making it easy to meet new people from all around the world.”
