EFTSL value of units : All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

To be eligible to apply for admission to the Bachelor (Honours) degree, a student must have completed at least 120 cp of LAWS units from the Bachelor of Laws degree, with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 5.75.

Completion requirements

To qualify for the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree, a student must complete 400 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 160 cp selected in accordance with the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts, consisting of:
  2. 80 cp from a Bachelor of Arts Major (Part A);
  3. 40 cp from a Bachelor of Arts Minor (Part B);
  4. 20 cp of University Core Curriculum Units (Part C); and
  5. 20 cp Electives chosen from other units listed in the Schedule of Unit Offerings for the Bachelor of Arts (Part D).
  6. 240 cp selected in accordance with the requirements for the Bachelor of Laws (Honours), consisting of:
  7. 180 cp from Law Specified Units (Part E)
  8. 10 cp from Law Elective Units (Part F);
  9. 10 cp LAWS450 Legal Research and Methodology (Part G);
  10. 30 cp LAWS451 Honours Thesis (Part H)
  11. 10 cp from Community Legal Engagement: Pro Bono Unit (Part I)
  12. To qualify for the Honours degree, at least four of the units taken from the Law Specified and/or Law Elective Units must be at level 4. To qualify for the degree, a student must also complete at least 80 hours of 0cp pro bono placement after completion of LAWS213 Community Legal Engagement: Pro Bono.

Other requirements

Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.

Progression requirements

Students normally complete a unit or units at an introductory level (100-level) in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced level units (200, 300, 400 level) in that sequence.
